In Acts 15:36–41, we witness a sharp disagreement between two pillars of the early church — Paul and Barnabas — over whether to bring John Mark on their next missionary journey. Barnabas, the “Son of Encouragement,” sees potential worth investing in. Paul, the apostle of mission clarity, sees a deserter who walked away when it mattered most. Neither man is villainized in Scripture. Neither is told to repent. And yet their partnership ends — not in bitterness, but in multiplication.
This message confronts the uncomfortable reality that faithful believers can disagree deeply, even painfully, and still be used by God. Conflict in the church isn’t always a sign of sin — sometimes it’s the Christ-honoring Christ-followers seeing the mission from different angles. What matters is how we handle it: with integrity, without gossip, and with trust that God is bigger than our broken partnerships.
If you’ve ever been hurt by conflict in the church — or caused it — this message offers both honesty and hope from the Word of God.
