God’s Got All the Things | Christ Over Everything (Colossians 1:15–20)
In Colossians 1:15–20, we are confronted with one of the clearest and most powerful declarations of who Jesus Christ truly is. Paul does not present Jesus as a helpful addition to life, but as the eternal Son—the image of the invisible God, the creator of all things, and the One in whom all things hold together.
Everything visible and invisible—time, space, authority, power, and even the forces we cannot see—exist by Him, through Him, and for Him. Jesus is not merely present in creation; He is sovereign over it. He is not overwhelmed by the world’s chaos; He sustains reality itself.
This message challenges us to consider what we are carrying that Christ already holds. Like the disciples in John 14, we often demand details when Jesus calls us to trust His authority. True peace is not found in having all the answers, but in knowing the One who reigns over all things.
As we close the year, this passage calls us to rest in Christ’s supremacy, surrender our need for control, and respond to the reconciliation purchased by the blood of His cross. Jesus doesn’t just help us through life—He is Lord over it all.
