03-Our Vision 2026: Live Love, and Learn Together

Mar 15, 2026    Pastor Christopher Thompson

In Mark 10:35–45, we witness what happens when Jesus' own inner circle jockeys for power — and how the Savior transforms relational dysfunction into one of His most profound lessons on servant greatness. This message is the final installment of our Purpose • Mission • Vision series, and it answers the most practical question of all: How?

If Purpose is why the church exists (Love God, Love People) and Mission is what we do (Go, Make, Baptize, Teach), then Vision is how we carry it out — by following the Savior's own method of gathering a small group of people together to Live, Love, and Learn Together. That's what Life Groups at Sonrise are designed to be: not a Bible study relocated to someone's living room, but a community shaped by the same relational discipleship Jesus practiced across three years with twelve imperfect men.

From a sick mother-in-law in Mark 1 to a woman caught in adultery in John 8, the Gospels reveal that Jesus' classroom was everyday life — and His curriculum was love in action. Even when His disciples failed spectacularly, they didn't shatter. They grew. And in Mark 10:45, Jesus grounds it all: the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve and give His life a ransom for many.

If you've been on the sideline of community — or hiding behind the excuse that people are too messy — this message is an invitation to step in. Because we are beautiful messes, and by His grace, we are better and more beautiful together.
